About Shri Ambabai Talim Sanstha

Shri Ambabai Talim Sanstha is an institute of physical culture, very well known in Maharashtra and other states. It was started on 12th November 1901 at Miraj by a band of patriotic, enthusiastic, and devoted workers with a view to creating a genuine and enlightened interest in physical education and culture among the youths — which would enable them to become strong, intelligent, self-reliant, and responsible citizens of India.

The Sanstha owns a piece of land admeasuring 42 acres, all on a high plateau by the side of the Miraj–Sangli road. It has a bracing climate which tones up health. The Sanstha has built a magnificent Gymnasium Building and separate hostels for ladies and gents with accommodation for 200 students, with mess facilities.

Ambabai Talim Institutions has given renowned and reputed players to the nation. Great personalities like Lokmanya Tilak, Vinoba Bhave, Veer Savarkar, and Dr. Rajendra Prasad — who are revered national leaders — had visited this institution and offered their blessings.

Mr. Sanjay P. Bhokare, Hon. Chairman of Shri Ambabai Talim Sanstha, continues to take this illustrious institution forward on the path of progress.

The B.P.Ed and M.P.Ed colleges have already been named after Dr. Padamsingh Patil as "Dr. Padamsingh Patil College". This celebration was inaugurated with the presence of Dr. Patangrao Kadam, Hon. Co-operation Minister of Maharashtra, in recognition of Dr. Patil’s invaluable contributions to education and his continued support to Ambabai Institution.

In the near future, a Commercial Complex will be established at the Sanstha’s site on Sangli–Miraj Road. Both sides near the college gate will be reserved for commercial shops to be rented to needy persons. Additionally, a Cultural Hall for various activities is to be built nearby.

The Government has initiated work on a “Sports Colony” on 12 acres of the institution’s land, which has been generously donated by the Sanstha. Members of the institution residing in the Sports Colony, along with students, will enjoy all facilities free of cost.
