Shri Ambabai Talim Sanstha is an institute of physical culture, very well known in Maharashtra and other states . It was started on 12th November 1901 at Miraj by a band of patriotic, enthusiastic and devoted workers with a view to creating a genuine and enlightened interest in physical education and culture among the youths - which would enable them to become strong, intelligent , self-reliant and responsible citizens of India.

The Sanstha owns a piece of land admeasuring 42 acres, all on high plateau by the side of the Miraj- Sangli road. It has bracing climate which tones up health. The Sanstha has built a magnificent Gymnasium Building and separate hostels for ladies and gents with an accommodation for 200, with a mess arrangement.

Amababai Tailm Institutions has given renowned and reputed players to the nation. Great Personalities like Lokmanya Tilak, Vinoba Bhave, Veer Savarkar and Dr. RajendraPrasad who are revered National leaders had visited this institution and offered their benedictions and blessings.

The B.P.Ed and M.P.Ed colleges have been already named after Dr. Padamsingh Patil as "Dr. Padamsingh Patil College". This celebration has been already inaugurated. Considering the yeomen services so far Dr. Padamsingh Patil has rendered, and his important work in educational field and his all-out help and concern for the progress of Ambabai Institution even at the level of government, the Board has befittingly passed a resolution to give his name to the said college. This august function has been celebrated at the auspicious hands of Dr. Patangrao Kadam, Hon. Co-Operation Minister of Maharashtra.

In Futur A commercial complex will be established on the place of the institution situated on Sangli-Miraj road.

At the both side places of the gate of the college will be reserved for commercial shops. They will be rented with deposit to the needy persons. Besides a big cultural hall for cultural activities is to be built near by. The government has started the work of "Sports Colony" in the 12 acres land of the institutions. The institution has given this 12 acres land free to the government. Naturally, the members of the institution who are in the Sports Colony will get all the facilities along with students without any cost.
